Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's expected for concerns to be raised about his position following another convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the team's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received significant support from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I sense the belief. However I've not talked to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a phase like this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to where it needs to be, show everyone again the values of this club and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
