19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's first championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after March of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event earlier this year.

His counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on court had led some to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and play positively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the last five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 initial break points in a competitive third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
