Cameron Norrie achieved the biggest victory of his career by coming back from a set down to defeat world No 1 Carlos Alcaraz with a stunning comeback in the second round of the Paris Masters.

Although he had earlier overcome Alcaraz on two occasions, this victory represents Norrie's first ever success over a reigning world top-ranked player.

"Enormous. So big for me," commented Norrie, who joins as the newest English competitor in history to overcome a global number one. "Bouncing back from health issues last year, I was defeated in the initial match of qualifiers here. I just aimed to embrace my tennis in the second half of the year. To secure a victory like this, it's the biggest victory of my career, my maiden triumph over the top player and probably the most in-form player in the world right now."

The British player, positioned No 31, also stopped Alcaraz's impressive streak of nine consecutive finals and 17 consecutive Masters 1000 victories, which marked the best series of performances in the Spaniard's young professional path.
